Facial asymmetry correction-Malar bone shave
A patient named Seltton a 26 yrs/M came to Richardson dental andcraniofacial hospital with a history of accident 2 months back and since then
complaining of swelling or prominence of the left malar region. Patient was
very particular about his face esthetics and had main concerns of the asymmetry
he has. Always correction of facial
asymmetries is a difficult task and it requires a surgeon to follow the golden
rules of proportion rule of face to create a face which is near to symmetrical.
Also esthetic correction of face correction has to met the psychological
demands of the patient which makes the task even more difficult for the
surgeon.
So was the requirement of this patient too
and thus after evaluation with the advanced Cone Beam CT scan the correct
measurements were done of the bilateral halves of the face, soft tissue
evaluation was done on photographs and clinically. Than the patient was planned
for cosmetic facial correction under local anesthesia.
In the cosmetic facial correction the malar
shaving was done on both the sides according to pre-evaluated values. The Botox
injection and dermal filler were used on the nasolabial crease which now a days
have become a important tool in correction of facial asymmetries worldwide.
Patient is on regular follow up and is
satisfied with his profile and look. So a simple procedure of 1 hour that too
in local anesthesia had made the face symmetrical and more pleasant in look and
had also met the psychological needs of the patient.
